School Management

Senior Leadership Team

The GESS Senior Leadership Team comprises the Principal, the Academic Director and the General Manager. The Academic Director and the General Manager report to the Principal. The Senior Leadership Team functions as the decision-making body for the whole school to ensure the school’s mission, vision and strategic educational and organisational goals are achieved.

Andreas Schaller

Principal of GESS

Education:
1st and 2nd state examination for teaching at Secondary School level in the subjects of English and PE at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Work experience and professional focus:

Mr. Andreas Schaller attained his academic qualifications in English and Physical Education, launching his 30-year (and still counting) career in this sector as an English and PE teacher in Germany. His subsequent roles brought him to other parts of the world, including the US – where he attended university for a year – and the Crimean Peninsula in Eastern Europe, where he supervised a programme for the German Language Diploma. Since 2008, he has undertaken roles in school management. Before accepting his appointment at GESS, he served as a principal of a prestigious high school in Prien am Chiemsee, Germany.

Embracing this career path as his calling, Mr. Schaller counts literature, politics, languages and sports as his interests. Onboarding the GESS senior leadership team in August 2024, he steers the school’s five-year Limitless Learning Plan with Vice-Principal Joram Hutchins and General Manager Maclean Braganza. A strong advocate of the school’s strategic pillars, he is committed to making significant contributions to the areas of high quality teaching and learning, student wellbeing, languages, and leading GESS to become one of the best employers in Singapore. Mr. Schaller also strives to foster robust and collaborative relationships with GESS students, families and staff, as he leads the school into a new chapter.
