A Warm Welcome from Our Senior Management Team
Welcome to the German European School Singapore (GESS)! Whether you are just beginning to explore schools for your child or you are already picturing them running across our campus, we are so glad you are here.
GESS is an international not-for-profit school founded in 1971, home to 1,650 students representing more than 70 nationalities. Walk through our gates and you will feel it immediately: a warm, close-knit community where every child, and every family, truly belongs. That sense of belonging is not an accident. It is what happens when a school is built, quite literally, by its own parent community, and it is what drives everything we do.

GESS is guided by a Senior Leadership Team that brings together the very best of both worlds our school was built on. We lead as one team, with one shared purpose: to empower every GESS student to discover and own their future.
That shared purpose is what allows us to offer something genuinely rare in Singapore: a choice between the German Curriculum, leading to the Abitur, and the International Baccalaureate, spanning the PYP, MYP, DP and CP. Two distinct academic traditions, one school, one community. Whichever pathway your family chooses, your child is held by the same values, the same care, and the same high expectations.
Everything we do at GESS is guided by three values:
These are not words on a wall. They shape how our teachers greet your child each morning, how our students learn to listen to classmates from a dozen different countries in a single conversation, and how our community makes decisions together.
Respect means every child is treated as an individual, seen for who they are and supported in becoming who they want to be. Openness means we welcome new perspectives, new languages and new ways of thinking, and we are always curious to learn more. Diversity is our everyday reality, not an initiative: with families from all corners of the globe, our students grow up fluent not just in languages, but in understanding one another.

As a not-for-profit school, GESS belongs to its families. Our parent-elected Board of Governors means the people who know our students best have a real voice in the direction of the school, including decisions about the school budget. It is a rare model, and one we believe keeps us honest, accountable and always focused on what matters most: your child.
We invite you to explore our website, come and visit our campus surrounded by nature, and picture your child here among friends from every corner of the world. Thank you for considering GESS. We would be honoured to welcome your family into our community.
