At German European School Singapore (GESS), our Model United Nations (MUN) programme gives students exactly that starting point, a space to find their voice, listen to others, and discover just how far their ideas can travel.
Open to Middle School and High School students, GESS MUN brings global diplomacy to life. Students step into the shoes of delegates representing countries from around the world, researching real international issues, building alliances, and debating solutions with passion, preparation, and respect for every perspective at the table.
It's more than a co-curricular activity. It's a training ground for empathy, critical thinking, and confident self-expression, the very qualities we hope every GESS student carries with them long after they leave our campus.
Diplomacy only works when people genuinely listen to one another, and that's what makes MUN such a natural fit for our community. Students don't just learn to argue a point, they learn to understand a viewpoint that isn't their own, to find common ground across differences, and to treat every delegate at the table, however different their position, with openness and respect. It's global citizenship in action, built one debate at a time.
Behind every confident delegate is hours of dedicated preparation, and that's where our CCA sessions come in. Students are coached in research, public debating, situation analysis, and negotiation, building the skills to walk into any conference room and hold their own, calmly, thoughtfully, and persuasively, alongside delegates from schools all around the world.
For students dreaming of a future in diplomacy, law, international relations, or simply hoping to become a more confident public speaker, MUN offers a genuine head start, and a chance to discover just what they're capable of.
GESS MUN is a natural extension of everything we believe about education: that students grow best when they're empowered to explore big ideas, form their own opinions, and engage confidently with a world far bigger than our campus.
