Integrated Character Development Lessons
The integrated Character Development (CD) lessons serve as anchors to ensure a coherent and effective approach to character development.
We have specially integrated Civics and Moral Education (CME), Social Emotional Learning (SEL), National Education (NE), Education and Career Guidance (ECG), Community Involvement Programme (CIP) and Sexuality Education elements into our Character Development lessons that take place every week. Our school core values are also strongly emphasized during the lessons. The various coordinators of each of the above listed fields are actively involved in the preparation and implementation of the Character Development lessons for each academic level.
Our CD lessons provide a platform for teachers and students to engage in discussions and group activities. The activities are designed to help the students internalize the school values, and to equip and instill in them the skills and attitudes necessary for developing good character. A variety of approaches e.g. cooperative learning, poster making, movies /videos are also used to make the lessons relevant and exciting for the students. The strengthening of social bonds within the class and school community is a natural outflow of the Character Development Programme in GESS.
