Taking it

Author: Michael Cadnum

Reviewed by: Ronald Lin (2A)

At first glance, Anna Charles seems to be the kind of Taking itenviable teenage girl who has it all: brains, looks, a boyfriend and material possessions. But no one in Anna's life really understands the hidden, inner turmoil that she is going through. This turmoil which arises from unresolved feelings about her parents' divorce and her new stepfather. She picked up a trick from her father who has left her - to take it, conceal her emotions beneath a façade of poise and control.

I will recommend this book as it did a convincing job of showing the inner struggles of a troubled young woman. We should take this as a reminder that there might be troubled people around us and try to listen to their voices within. Not everyone leads a peaceful and happy life. Ups and downs in life are inevitable. We must learn to overcome any obstacles, without letting it control us.
