Library Diary

Dear Diary…

On the 27th and 28th November 2006, the Library Club had our very first Library camp. A brief introduction given by our teacher-in-charge, Miss Chui, gave us an overview of the library’s operation and activities.

To set the members ready for tasks that awaited us, we began off with a series of teambuilding games that wore us out. Though we were only physically worn out, and not mentally. Despite the pouring rain, our moods were not dampened as we set off for our lunch and took a field trip to Library@Orchard and various bookstores to get an idea of how major public bookshops function. The climax of the camp would definitely be the barbeque. The night was still young as we worked around to prepare the sumptuous dinner. We were all enjoying ourselves so much that we just kept eating and talking till we were reminded to leave before we were locked in.

The evolution of the Aroozoo Library has doubtlessly signified the transformation of the Library Club into a committee of refined librarians which strives to provide services of superior standards. Tracing back to the early times when I was a new librarian, the journey proved to be a heartwarming chapter of my life and never failed to bring in elements of surprise along the way. Challenges awaited me in every weekly duty. Occasions such as CCA orientations and library outings instilled in me a sense of loyalty that encouraged me to continue to serving as a librarian over the years. On the whole, this experience brought me a basic form of happiness and innocence that were felt only by the family of librarians. “Encore!?
