About his books…

Tuesdays with Morrie

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it.

For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly twenty years ago.

Maybe, like Mitch, you lost track of this mentor as you made your way, and the insights faded, and the world seemed colder. Tuesday with Morrie chronicle the lessons about life that Mitch learns from his professor, who is dying from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Quote:

"The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in."

The Five People You Meet in Heaven

Mitch Albom is known to be a very establishing writer who writes about life and death, love and be loved and the meaning of life.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven is about a man named Eddie who was the maintenance man at the amusement park nearby, called Ruby Pier. Eddie had desired to study engineering in life, however, he was never able to leave the pier. He continued to work there despite his wishes.

On his 83rd birthday, he was cleaning the rides, and a broken cart was falling towards a young girl and himself. As he was trying to save this little girl, he died. Throughout the story, Eddie looks down on the afterlife and meets five people. These five people were in Eddie's life and had an impact on it. He also continues to ask whether or not he saved the little girl.

Quote:

“Sometimes when you sacrifice something precious, you're not really losing it. You're just passing it on to someone else.?

For One More Day

His most recent book, For One More Day is the story of a mother and a son, and a relationship that covers a lifetime and beyond. It explores the question: What would you do if you could spend one more day with a lost loved one?

What follows is the one "ordinary" day so many of us yearn for, a chance to make good with a lost parent, to explain the family secrets, and to seek forgiveness. Somewhere between this life and the next, Charley learns the astonishing things he never knew about his mother and her sacrifices. And he tries, with her tender guidance, to put the crumbled pieces of his life back together.

Quote:

“You can find something truly important in a minute.?
