Our Club:
The Entrepreneur Club was set up in 2004 in a bid to promote Innovation and Enterprise in Gan Eng Seng School. The E-Club aims to provide its members with fun-filled, hands-on real life business experience through continuous innovation and creative approaches.
The E-Club members run GESSCOVE, a café cum activity centre where Gessians can pop by after school hours to relax over a game of pool, play board games or PSPs, chit-chat over Snow Ice desserts or just chill out to some cool music. Our Achievements:
In 2006, we took part in the Enterprising Youth Competition organized by the CDAC Redhill Student Service Centre and won the 1st Prize despite facing tough competition from our competitors. We also participated in the 4th National Trade Marks Competition and learnt about product branding.
In 2008, we sent a team of 6 members to take part in the National Pushcart Challenge 2008 organised by Republic Polytechnic in support of the Global Enterpreneur Week. Our team won the ‘Most Patronized Pushcart’ Award and won our club a trophy and $500 cash.
In 2009, we sent a team of 10 members to participate in The Great TP SIFE Ice Cream Challenge and won 1st prize in the competition.
Our club also submitted a proposal for the Citibank-Youth for Causes social entrepreneurship programme and was one of the 100 teams selected for this project. In addition to learning valuable life lessons, having fun and working hard together, we also managed to raise a total of $7942.85 for Yong En Care Centre, our selected Non-Profit Organisation for the Youth for Causes social entrepreneurship programme.
2010:
On 20 March, 6 of our E-Club members represented the school to participate in The Financial Literacy Challenge organized by the NTU FastForward Board Games Society.
This Challenge aims to inculcate essential financial literacy knowledge in youth in Singapore through the use of games and is a Nationwide inter-school competition. One of our teams emerged champions at this challenge. They won $150 worth of board games for themselves and a challenge trophy for the school.
