Javier Lee(5A), bagged the Gold Award in the Digital Music composition category of the Digital Music Carnival 2010
On 26 June, our Robotics team came in Second runner-up in the National Micromouse Competition Organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
The team members each received a medal.
They are Chng Wei Sheng(3G), Daniel Siok(3F), Michael Jacob(3F), Daim(2E), Nicholas Lur(2G) and Ernest Koh(2G)
On 21 Jan, Our Robotics team came in 2nd in the ITE Tampies Robotics Challenges
The team members each received a trophy and $20 Popular vocher.
They are Aaron Sim(4H), Chng Wei Sheng(3G), Daniel Siok(3F) and Michael Jacob(3F).
On 14 Mar, our Robotics teams came in 2nd and 4th in the Singapore Robo Grand Prix Competition 2008
The team members each received a trophy and won trophies for school.
They are Wong Shun Yin Wendell(5B), Chng Wei Sheng(3G), Daniel Siok(3F), Alby Supangat(3X), Lee Yang Guang Javier(3X) and Michael Jacob(3F).
3 Students(Nabeelah, Maslindah and Ashiqin of 2B) constructed a chemically-powered car with Lego Mindstorms parts and in the competition, they were placed in the top 16
In the Network Security Investigation Competition on 5th and 6th Nov 2007 at Republic Polytechnic, our school Robotics team come in 4th. The team consists of Ricky Tsang (3H), Soh Wei Wen Edwin (3I) and Ng Kok Wei Eddy (3I).

Ricky Tsang (3H), Aaron Sim (3H), Lim Qi Xiang (3I) and Edwin Soh (3I) won the 'Best In Electronics Knowledge Award' for their write-up about the robot they constructed in the DSTA-DSO Robotics Challenge 2007 at VJC. They won $50 for the school.
In the National Mobile Robot Competition organised by ITE Dover on 13 Feb, 2 boys from the
Robotics Club won the Merit Prize in the Lower Sec category. They received a trophy and $30
each.
The 2 boys are Javier Lee and Alby Supangat, both from 2C.

On 23 March, our Robotics Club team came in as Second Runner-up (in Div II) in the Robotics Challenge 2007 Micromouse competition at ITE Tampines. They won a trophy for our school, a trophy each and $20 MPH book vouchers each (from $80 for the whole team). The team members are: Jervis Goh (4G), Ricky Tsang(3H), Mohd Ibrahim(3I) and Benedit Chong(3I). Well done Gessians. |

On 25 November, our Robotics Club team emerged 2nd runner-up in the National StrITwise Challenge organised by Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Each member of the team won a 1GB MP3 player and the school received 2 graphics tablets, software and a trophy. The team members are: Jaystine Ang(3F), Jervis Goh (3G), Hairul Hakkim(3I), Ricky Tsang(2E), Mohd Ibrahim(2E) and Javier Lee(1C).Well done Gessians. |
Two teams of students participated in the Inter-school Robotics Challenge - Robo GP organised by ITE Simei on 28 July 2006. The Sec 2 team won the Merit Prize, finishing with a time slightly behind the top 3.
They are Shi Zhen Hui, Lim Kheng Ann and Bryan Lai Wen Yew (all from 2H).
The Animation Team has won a Merit Award in the Animania 06 competition. The team members are: Loe Chuan Yun (4H, Team Leader), Ng Xin Quan (3H), Angeline Teo (3I) Shui Ran (4E). Their animation is titled: "Rat Run".
On 26th November, a team of 6 students were semi-finalists in the JAVA Robocode Programming category and were 7th overall in the Grand Championship. Jaystine Ang(2H), Tobie Tham(2B), Hairul(2G), Thng Kai Yuan(2G), Nareyn(2G) and Muneer(2G) each won a 128mb thumbdrive.
4 students from Sec 2, Jaystine Ang (2H), Naveen Kumar (2F), Hairul Hakim & Thng Kai Yuan (both 2G), competed in Logistikos.05 organised by Republic Polytechnic They came in at 2nd runner-up position and received a school trophy, individual trophies and S$400 worth of book vouchers.
Three students from class 2G, Hairul Hakim, Nareyn Raaj and Syed Sabiyath Khan, competed in the Singapore RoboGP Competition organised by Temasek Polytechnic on Fri 9th September 2005. They achieved 4th runner-up position in their group of the Novice Category.
Our team of 3 students, Azarudeen (4G), Goh Ming Hui Kenneth (4I), Guo Yuhuang (4H) competed in AniMania 2005 organised by CreativeBITS Pte Ltd with the entry 'Colours'.
They finished as 1st Runner-up in the Middleweight Category.
Our team of 4 Sec 2N(A) students assembled a mobile robot and participated in the Mobile Robot Competition on 26 Feb at ITE Dover. One team of 2 qualified for the final on Sun 27 Feb. They received consolation prize medals, finishing 18th out of 40 finalists
Our team of 5 Sec 2 students competed at the Robotics Games on 28 Jan at ITE Yishun. They recieved a Finalist Trophy as the 2nd Best Newcomer Team
Jimmy Soh (3I), Tan Yu Yii (3G), Guo YuHuang (3H) and Kenneth Tham (3H) have emerged as the Champions in the Logistikos.04 competition organized by Republic Polytechnic.
Our robotic teams emerged as the runner-up in the competition organized by Republic Polytechnic on 11 September 2004.
The team members are: Jimmy Soh (3I), Tan Yu Yii (3G), Yusuf Sufi (3H), Guo YuHuang (3H)
Teo Kairen of Sec 4I and Chew Zishen of Sec 4G won a merit award in the competition organized by Republic Polytechnic. Their entry is titled: Essay of Escape

Our team came up 3rd in the Secondary School Division Three of the competition.
The team members are: Jeysthur Ang (4I), Teo Beng Kian (4I), Joel Tan (4I), Malcolm Teo (4H), Lam Yi Chun (4H), Jonathan Ng (4F); and their mouse is MCKJ3.
Multimedia Section - Champion
Our Gessian, Tang Zhanwei (Sec 4F, 2001), has won Animation 2002 Award 1st Prize in Sec and JC category. He also won the Outstanding Animation Award in this competition. The title of his project "This Is Not A Lemon".

On Apr 7 2001, 3 students, Chan Yu (4F), Ong Kim Chuan (4H) and Benjamin Chew Zhan Hong (4I) from the computer club, programming section took part in VICOMP 2001, an IT competition held at Victoria Junior College. After 2 elimination rounds testing them on IT knowledge and computer programming skills, our boys done well to make it to the final buzzer round. The other finalists were RI, Victoria and ACS(I). In that round, our boys kept their nerves and put up an outstanding performance which helped them to eventually clinch the title. Well done boys!

Gold & Merit Award
Our school teachers Mr Low Joo Hong (who is presently in CPDD/Art & Crafts) and Mr Lokman Jalil (who is presently in East Spring Secondary School) won the GOLD and MERIT awards in the HP INIT Award 2000 respectively. Mr Low's entry which is IT in Art Education demonstrates that the learning of Art is interesting, fun and relevant. Mr Lokman's entry Software Locally Produced for Your School showcase the creative use of technology to design user-friendly resources. Mr Low won for himself $5000 worth of HP products and for the school $2500 worth of HP Products and Mr Lokman won for himself $2500 worth of HP Products.
Gan Eng Seng School is the only school to have won in both categories of the competition - Algorithm and Multimedia. We won attractive prizes for this competition. This year is also the first time that we won in the Algorithm section. The efforts of our teachers- Mr Ang Ghim Chee, Ms Lee Moi Cheng and Ms Lee Mun Yee- paid handsome dividends with this win. ONWARD GESSIANS!
Multimedia Section - Champion for 3 consecutive years
The theme for this year's competition is 'A GOOD DEED'. The judges were very impressed with our entry. It is of high standard. The students have to come up with a multimedia presentation based on the given theme. The students will then have to attend an interview conducted by the judges. Once again, our boys, Gerard Ng (4E), Loh Zhi Chang (4F) and Lee Choon Yew (4F) did well against a big pool of quality entries. Well done!
Algorithm Section - 2nd runner-up
Three of our students have to solve four questions on the spot within limited time frame. They have to come up with solutions to the programming problems. Our boys did well against some well-known schools. Congratulations!

First Prize
Most Original Entry Award
Our school won the First Prize ($4900 worth of cash and software) in the secondary section in the ANIMATION COMPETITION 2000 organised by the National Arts Council and Nanyang Polytechnic.. We also clinched the Most Original Entry Award ($4800 worth of cash and software). This competition attracted a total of 114 students with 48 entries of which 15 entries were shortlisted. Congratulations to our boys, Gerard Ng (4E), Loh Zhi Chang (4F) and Lee Choon Yew (4F) and the teachers-in-charge, Ms Lee Moi Cheng and Ms Lee Mun Yee.
In June 1999, Ong Kai Hian and Loe Chuan Wen won the top prize in a computer graphics competition organised by Raffles Institution's IT department and sponsored largely by United Overseas Bank and Autodesk. They beat 46 other teams, including those from Raffles Institution and Raffles Girls'.

In August 1999, Gan Eng Seng School won the First Prize again in the National Software Competition organised by ETD. We first won it in 1998.
