Ng Chin Yuen of Secondary 1G has won the third prize in the poem competition organised by Jamiyah Singapore.

2007 GCE N-Level Examination Results

Following the release of the 2007 GCE N-Level Examination results on 18 Dec 2007, our school had achieved commendable results with 89.1% pupils eligible for Sec 5 compared to the national average of 72.5%. In the Ministry of Education (MOE) Press Release (please refer to www.moe.gov.sg/press/2007/pr20071218.htm), Gan Eng Seng School is one of the three schools which has a top N(A) pupil scoring 5 Grade 1s and a top N(T) pupil scoring 4 Grade 1s. Our school achievements are also featured in local newspapers.

Our congratulations to Senior Gessian Nurshahidah Binte Rosli (Class of 2004) who was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Award for the Higher Nitec in Business Studies (Sports Management) course at the ITE College East Graduation Ceremony on 23 May 2007.   1. Following the release of the 2008 GCE O-Level Examination results on 12 Jan 2009, Gan Eng Seng School has achieved commendable results.
  2. 94.3% of Sec 4 Express students and 59.0% Sec 5 Normal students obtained at least 5 O-level passes at the 2008 GCE O-Level Examination. Sec 5 Normal English shows a significant improvement from 63.6% pass in 2007 to 91.0% pass in 2008.

Results of the 2008 GCE N(A) and N(T) Level Examinations

  1. Gan Eng Seng School has achieved highly commendable results in the 2008 GCE N(A) and N(T) Level Examinations.
  2. For the Normal (Academic) course,
    • The school has a total of 74 Sec 4 N(A) students including 46 students who sat for the GCE N(A) Level Examination and 28 students who are promoted directly to Sec 5, bypassing the GCE N(A) Level Examination.
    • Among the 46 students who sat for the GCE N(A) Level Examination 2008, % of N(A) students eligible for the Sec 5 is 91.3%, which is much higher than the national average of 73.2%.
    • One student obtained 3 Grade '1's and five students obtained 2 Grade '1's.
    • All 11 subjects have % pass higher than the national average. 10 out of 11 subjects have % Grade 1-2 higher than the national average.
    • 7 Subjects with 100% pass include Chinese, Mathematics, Malay, Tamil, Panjabi, Design & Technology and Science (Chem/Bio).
  3. For the Normal (Technical) course,
    • Among the 63 N(T) candidates, one student obtained 5 'A's and four students obtained 4 'A's.
    • 2 Subjects with 100% pass include Basic Malay and Food Studies.
    • Subjects with high % of students scoring Grade A include Design and Technology (50.0%), Elements of Office Administration (35.5%) and Basic Tamil (33.3%).

Results of the GCE O-Level Examination 2009

Following the release of the 2009 GCE O-Level Examination results on 11 Jan 2010, Gan Eng Seng School has achieved commendable results. In the MOE-SEAB’s joint press release on 11 Jan 2010 (www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/), Gan Eng Seng School is highlighted as one of the schools with good performance.

98.3% of Sec 4 Express students and 76.1% Sec 5 Normal students obtained at least 5 O-level passes at the 2009 GCE O-Level Examination.

Highlights of some significant improvement are summarised below:

  1. Sec 5 Normal Science (Physics/Chemistry) achieved 49.1% distinction (A1 & A2) in 2009 compared to 32.4% distinction in 2008.
  2. Sec 5 Normal Chinese achieved 18.8% distinction (A1 & A2) in 2009 compared to 3.8% distinction in 2008.
  3. Sec 4 Express English achieved 43.6% distinction (A1 & A2) in 2009 compared to 28.7% distinction in 2008.
  4. Sec 4 Express Mathematics achieved 81.2 % distinction (A1 & A2) in 2009 compared to 66.9% distinction in 2008.
  5. Sec 4 Express Physics achieved 59.2% distinction (A1 & A2) in 2009 compared to 35.0% distinction in 2008.
  6. Sec 4 Express Chemistry achieved 41.1% distinction (A1 & A2) in 2009 compared to 17.8% distinction in 2008.
  7. Sec 4 Express Art achieved 50.0% distinction (A1 & A2) in 2009 compared to 0% distinction in 2008.

Results of the GCE N(A) and N(T) Level Examinations 2009

Following the release of the 2009 GCE N-Level Examination results on 18th Dec 2009, our school had achieved commendable results. The school has a total of 78 Sec 4 N(A) students including 62 students who sat for the GCE N(A) Level Examination 2009 and 16 students who are promoted directly to Sec 5, bypassing the GCE N(A) Level Examination.

Among the 62 students who sat for the GCE N(A) Level Examination 2009, % of N(A) students eligible for the Sec 5* is 88.7%, which is much higher than the national average of 71.1%. You can view a summary of the results here.

Results of the GCE O-Level Examination 2010

We are delighted to share with you that the school has achieved commendable results at the 2010 N-Level Examinations. Gan Eng Seng School is highlighted as one of the schools with good performance in the MOE-SEAB's joint press release for both O-Level on 10 Jan 2011. 2010 GCE O-Level Examination: 99.2% of Sec 4 Express students and 52.9% Sec 5 Normal students obtained at least 5 O-level passes at the 2010 GCE O-Level Examination. Both are better than national means. 14 students have at least 5 A1s and our top student Chan Mei Zhi Alcine has 7 A1s. A number of subjects have high percentage of distinction.
