Cheers for the GCE O Level Results 2011!

The results of the 2011 GCE O-Level examinations were released on 9 Jan 12. A total of 36,955 school candidates sat the examinations. Among these students, 36,904 (99.9%) have been awarded certificates. GESS did well with our third year being featured for having candidates with 7A1s, and the top Indian students nation-wide with 9A1s.

For students who achieved 5 O level passes, our Sec 5 cohort has increased from 52.9% to 81.5% (National : 51.6%) and we have maintained 99.2% (National : 91.4%) for our Sec 4 Express cohort! We have exceeded the National average on both counts!

2012: Reconnecting the Good, Joining the Dots

Another exciting year to welcome new beginnings especially if you have been posted to secondary school- a new chapter indeed; or if you have just been promoted to the upper secondary coursework or stepped into the Express stream after the experience of the Normal coursework.

And if you are preparing for the year of great expectations of being in Secondary 4, it is a time to grow strong in wisdom as you stand at the crossroads! That leaves our Secondary Two's who are in the same boat of expectancy because they are wise to realize that selecting the best subject combinations are for the brave-hearted who dare to search for good counsel as they work hard to fulfill their aspirations.

Two Ts can help you succeed in 2012 at Gan Eng Seng School (GESS): Teachers and Technology!

Being a good leader will help you succeed in life. Teachers are naturally leaders. Since success begets success, being with your teachers who want you to succeed will naturally increase your ability to contribute something special to get the job done well; especially GESS Teachers who treat each student with respect. We believe you are able to walk in our footsteps to create stronger pathways.

Like you, the GESS Teacher have different knowledge and different ways of thinking. Whilst we know you have different strengths and weaknesses, we want to make sure you know how to study well as you work with each other to reach your goals in your study and CCAs.

Thus the GESS Teacher is riding on technology to speak your language of communication in the crest of the 21st century. Thus our challenge is to continue to motivate each other as quality change catalysts to have the right mindset. Our conviction is that challenges then,now or tomorrow's are surmountable.

For 2012, we will embark on collaborative learning through technology. One such laboratory is made possible with the foresight of our Minsitry of Education and Mr. Teo Kim Kok who was reconnected to the good cause of education at Gan Eng Seng School Old Student Association.Our partners in education extend to the Parent-Teacher Association,too.

As Gan Eng Seng School continues with reconnecting the good which is the foundation of our existence, we will be joining the dots of what we think, say and do. We do more than give just like our founder Gan Eng Seng, a philantrophist in Singapore.

Aim to be Quality Change Catalysts and we will better comprehend who we are and what we are capable of doing. Our potential lies in the stretch-together.

Simply put, we are just living out our motto -"ONWARD"!

Results of the GCE N(A) and N(T) Level Examinations 2011
